I would have loved having such a course too. Even though I'm french, I've never learned much on other french societies.
Don't worry about your french essay, I'm sure they will consider the fact that it's your first year. And like you said, some people have very poor french skills, which is no longer your case in my opinion.
Good luck with it !Isahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08491448025298489024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989668991123127551.post-44271400487646219662010-11-22T15:52:10.513-05:002010-11-22T15:52:10.513-05:00Ok, I thought it must be something ironical and fu...Ok, I thought it must be something ironical and funny. His name points out that he works very hard when in fact it is the opposite.
Thank you for your explanation.
Also, I'd like to thank for your French email, this is a wonderful idea of yours to write emails in French.
I will use the occasion (I have a few minutes haha) to tell you some things.
As I said, your idea came in just the right time. Half a year ago I would have refused saying it would take me too much time but now I don't really have an option. So today is was informed that we are to write an essay in French on Dec 16th. Helloo? Are they serious? Anyway, you can guess I am pretty anxious about it (which leads me to another story to be told in the email though I doubt it will in French. But who knows. Maybe I will wake up tomorrow to discover I've become an expert.)
Anyway, since I was dreaming about what my French sentences will look like in my email then it is about time to (finally) write it.
Don't ask. (Yes, French grammar is literary my nightmare or should I say cauchemar.) :)
Btw, I've discovered we are going to learn about francophone societies in the third year. Cool, right? So I'm almost 100% that this is not the last time that I hear about the ministry for condition feminine. You've put it very funny, though, so I'm sure I won't forget it easily.
ByeBye for now :)Vesnanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989668991123127551.post-56725448711134326552010-11-21T15:46:42.719-05:002010-11-21T15:46:42.719-05:00Oh ok ! I admit I read your comment too quickly !
Hard to explain what Jean Narachefor means, because the author played with words, as you guessed, but it's a quebecese expression that has no other equivalent in french or in english... Jean Narachefor is pronounced the same way as «J'en arrache fort» meaning something like I am working hard and having a lot of difficulties with my work.

Yes, there's the condition féminine minister, but honnestly I have no clue what they're doing ! The ministery probably appeared in the 1960-1970 to fight for women's right but nowadays they must not have too much work ! :)Isahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08491448025298489024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989668991123127551.post-11721341367636461532010-11-21T14:03:07.509-05:002010-11-21T14:03:07.509-05:00No, no, I meant Jean Narachefor. ;))
Sorry, I put ...No, no, I meant Jean Narachefor. ;))
Sorry, I put it in " to show it is in French. Of course, I know that it is a minister for culture. ;)
Really, for condition feminine? Is it fighting for the rights of women? :)Vesnanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3989668991123127551.post-2623095589251681712010-11-20T18:43:49.979-05:002010-11-20T18:43:49.979-05:00It's the culture minister, simply !
